Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyiva / The Penal jurisdiction of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice reported that the construction of new reformatory in Azerbaijan would begin in August.
After including the Gobustan State reserve into the list of culture monuments, protected by the United Nation Educational, Scientific and Culture Organ (UNESCO), by decree of the President on protection of historic and cultural monuments of Gobustan reserve, removing of the reformatory from this was ordered to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice.
For the construction of a new prison, an area near to the Umbaku village was allocated.
Presently, the estimate for the reformatory has been drawn up. After the development of the project the tender on its construction will be announced, this is planned to be completed by August.
The final date of construction is unknown. The State budget allocated AZN 2mln for the first stage of construction. In construction of the prison all European standards are taken into consideration.
Some 500 prisoners could serve their terms in the new constructed building. The building for life prisoners will also be constructed.
