Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Ogtay Shiraliyev , the Azerbaijani Health Minister, stated on the 18th of June that the death-rate among women- mothers in Azerbaijan was high.
The Minister noted that the problem of lethal outcomes among woman in childbirth was discussed during the meeting of Ministers Board.
In May of 2007 some fifteen women died during childbed. Some twelve employees of hospitals were dismissed.
In regards to the professional level of doctors, the Minister noted that the exams held by the State Committee on Student Admission only sixteen people from eighty people, successfully passed the exams.
The monitorings in private drugstores will be continued. Doctors must prescribe drugs only via prescription on paper, ratified by the Government.
Shiraliyev noted that the Azerbaijani Health Ministry cooperates with the State Custom Service. Analytic- expert department of the Ministry is informed about the importation of pharmaceutical drugs.
"Recently a low-quality and spurious import of pharmaceutical drugs into Azerbaijan has been prevented," the Minister stressed.
