Almost all airports in Azerbaijan are equipped with systems and solutions of the French Thales company for air traffic control, Thales Azerbaijan Technical Director Mikhail Malinovsky told Trend.
According to the technical director, all flights, landing, and takeoff are controlled by these systems.
“Also, Thales In-Flight Entertainment Systems have been installed on a number of aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) to provide passengers with video, TV, music, and other content,” Malinovsky added.
“Thales is also taking part in the integration of technical solutions and software in the preparation of national biometric passports and identity cards in Azerbaijan. Thales is also interested in participating in the introduction of ASAN Visa in Azerbaijan,” he said.
“We started our fruitful and exciting cooperation with Baku Metro in 2014 and we have already implemented several projects,” he noted.
“Baku Metro is dynamically developing in many directions. One of them is the modernization and implementation of innovative automation and communication systems that ensure the safety of train movement, regulation of speed, and manage routes and timetables. Thales is a world leader in the automation of rail traffic control both for subways and railways. Together with the management and specialists of Baku Metro, we have started a phased implementation of a modern automatic train control system on the Purple line. In the future, the automatic train control system will substantially improve the economic and technical performance of the line. It will significantly reduce energy consumption, increase the average speed and reduce the interval between the trains, making the trip more comfortable for passengers due to optimal and smooth acceleration and deceleration of trains,” said Malinovsky.
“We have also taken the first significant step towards modernizing the old control systems on the Red and Green lines and introduced a modern computer-based interlocking system at Narimanov Depot and Bakmil station,” the expert added.
The French Thales began to implement the first projects in Azerbaijan more than 20 years ago with Azerbaijan Airlines.
