BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by 3 percent from January through April 2022 compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

The volume of retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased up to 13.9 billion manat ($8.1 billion), including turnover of food products, drinks and tobacco products - up to 7.9 billion manat (by 2.5 percent), non-food products - up to six billion manat ($3.5 billion, by 3.7 percent).

According to the committee, the population spent 51.5 percent of funds on the purchase of food products from January through April 2022, 5.6 percent on drinks and tobacco products, 13.3 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, and 5.9 percent on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.6 percent - electrical goods and furniture, 2.4 percent - pharmaceuticals and medicines, 1.2 percent - computers, telecommunications equipment and printed matter, 15.5 percent - for the purchase of other non-food products.

The cost of goods sold by business entities in the non-state sector increased by 3.1 percent during the reporting period compared from January through April 2021 and amounted to 99.7 percent of total retail trade turnover.

Retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 7.9 percent for enterprises, by 4.9 percent - for markets and fairs, and for individual entrepreneurs - decreased by 0.6 percent from January through April 2022 compared to the same period last year.

The average monthly turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan per capita amounted to 346.7 manat ($203.9), including the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products - 197.8 manat ($116.3), non-food products - 148.9 manat ($87.6).
