BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. Azerbaijan imported more than 819,300 tons of food products in the first half of 2022, which is 2.19 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the Bulletin of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, Azerbaijani food imports, in value terms, increased by 16.19 percent over the year, or $147.2 million - up to $1.05 billion.

Azerbaijan imported over 20,170 tons of meat worth $33.9 million from January through June 2022, 5,210 tons of milk ($8.1 million), 10,770 tons of dairy products ($61.1 million), 222,500 tons of vegetables and fruits ($132.3 million), 7,140 tons of tea (more than $35.3 million).

Azerbaijan also imported over 471,200 tons of wheat, barley, corn and rice worth over $184.0 million.

Imports of vegetable fats and oils amounted to about 73,260 tons worth more than $119.597 million.

Azerbaijan reduced the import of tobacco and tobacco products by 20.11 percent or to $40.463 million during this period compared to the first half of 2021.

Imports of pharmaceutical industry products increased in quantitative terms by 29.61 percent, or more than 3,520 tons - up to 15,440 tons compared to the same period in 2021, and in value terms - by 30.5 percent or $77.3 million to over $330.81 million.
