BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. The number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries significantly grew from January through June 2022, Trend reports via Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this figure amounted to 680,800 people, up by 2.3 times on an annual basis.
Some 47.6 percent of the above Azerbaijani citizens visited Türkiye, 15.7 percent - Russia, 13.3 percent - Iran, 8.1 percent - Georgia, and 15.3 percent - other countries in the first half of this year.
The number of citizens who visited Iran increased by 5.2 times over the year, Türkiye - 2.7 times, Georgia - two times, and Russia – by 29.1 percent.
The committee noted that 55.4 percent of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries from January through June 2022 used air transport, 42 percent - rail and road, and 2.6 percent - sea transport.
Meanwhile, according to the committee, 638,600 foreigners and stateless persons from 166 countries visited Azerbaijan.
