BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. MasterCard is implementing projects in Azerbaijan, that aim to digitalize the economy of the state, General Manager of MasterCard in Azerbaijan and Turkiye Avsar Gurdal told Trend.

According to him, in the near future, it is planned to increase the rate of non-cash turnover to 60-65 percent in Azerbaijan.

"Moreover, I would like to mention that MasterCard created an opportunity for cardholders to connect to the Apple Pay and Google Pay systems from the very beginning of the launches of these solutions. Also, MasterCard is aiming to achieve a rate of more than 50 percent for digital bank card emission," said Gurdal.

He noted that the company is also implementing projects related to the acceptance of non-cash payments.

"Our MasterPass solution has facilitated electronic commerce in Azerbaijan, creating an opportunity for the safe keeping of bank card data for future purchases on the internet," he said.

He also noted that starting in 2023, it is planned to launch the TapToPhone solution in Azerbaijan.

"This solution will allow micro- and small-business entities to accept non–cash payments through mobile phones," said Gurdal.

Also, according to him, MasterCard implemented solutions like Cross border send and Money send in Azerbaijan, which facilitated card-to-card and card-to-account transfers.

"Today, when you transfer money from the Azerbaijani MasterCard cards to the foreign accounts or cards, you will know beforehand the amount of commission and the payment itself will be received in 30 minutes," said the general managed of MasterCard in Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
