Türkiye reveals volume of transshipment cargo from Italy to its ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. Turkish ports handled 7.2 million tons of cargo from Italy from January through April 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, vessels under the Turkish flag delivered 2 million tons of cargo from Italy to domestic ports, and vessels under the flags of other countries - 4.9 million tons.

During this period, 264,021 tons of cargo were delivered to Turkish ports by Italian-flagged vessels, while 10.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Italy to the ports.

Moreover, the ports handled 33.6 million tons of cargo only in April 2023.

During the specified period, cargo transportation by ships under the Turkish flag through domestic ports amounted to 2.3 million tons.

Furthermore, cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the flags of other countries reached 31.2 million tons.

In addition, in the the fourth month of 2023, the Turkish ports handled 5.1 million tons of transit cargo.

At the same time, the ports from January through April this year handled 125.2 million tons of cargo.

During the specified period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of the country totaled 8.8 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 116.3 million tons.

In addition, in the accounting period, the Turkish ports handled 23.4 million tons of transit cargo.
