Turkish ports handle over 9M tons of cargo from Italy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Turkish ports handled over nine million tons of cargo from Italy from January through May 2023, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, in the reporting period ships under the Turkish flag delivered 2.6 million tons of cargo from Italy to domestic ports, and ships under the flags of other countries - 6.3 million tons.

Meanwhile, 286,974 tons of cargo were delivered to Turkish ports by Italian-flagged ships, while 6.3 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Italy to the ports.

The Turkish ports totally handled over 35.48 million tons of cargo in May 2023.

Over 2.5 million tons of cargo were handled by ships under the Turkish flag.

In May this year, more than 32.9 million tons of cargo were handled in Turkish ports by ships under the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, the ports handled 5.49 million tons of transit cargo.

From January through May 2023, the ports of Türkiye handled 160.76 million tons of cargo.

Moreover, in the specified period, cargo handling by ships under the country's flag amounted to 11.4 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the flags of other countries totaled 149.3 million tons.

During the first five months of 2023, Turkish ports handled 28.9 million tons of transit cargo.

In 2022, the Turkish ports handled over 394 million tons of cargo. The ships flying the Turkish flags transported 28.4 million tons, while ships flying the flags of other countries - had 365.6 million tons of cargo.

Besides, last year, 81.01 million tons of transit cargo were handled via Turkish ports.
