Gypsum production in Azerbaijan increases manifold

Construction materials worth 141.4 million manat ($83.1 million) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through March 2020, which is 14.8 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing data of the State Statistical Committee on Apr. 20.

In 1Q2020, the volume of production of building gypsum amounted to 3,900 tons, building bricks – 101,700 cubic meters, indicating an increase of 14.7 percent. The production volume of ready-mixed concrete increased by 5.2 percent and amounted to 308,600 tons. The volume of production of marble, travertine and alabaster and their products amounted 2.83 million tons, a decrease of 36.2 percent, prefabricated concrete structures – 9,400 cubic meters, an increase of 5.1 percent.

Over the reporting period, the increase was also observed in asphalt production - by 1.5 percent to 39,800 tons. Cement production dropped by three percent amounting to 683,600 tons. The decrease also was observed in the production of building blocks and bricks made of cement, artificial stone or concrete – 3,900 tons, showing the decrease of 2.2 times.
