Georgia continues construction of Samtredia-Grigoleti road

Construction works at Lot 1 and 2 of Samtredia-Grigoleti road are actively progressing in Georgia, Trend reports via the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

As reported, about 15 km long section of Japana-Lanchkhuti road (Lot 1) is at the final stage.

Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement, the arrangement of road signs, and marking of the carriageway are being implemented at the mentioned section. At the same time, 2.7 km long penetration to the existing road is under rehabilitation, where the arrangement of roadbed, gabions and culverts are underway.

Samtredia-Grigoleti (Lot 2) envisages construction of 18.5 km 4-lane asphalt concrete road, 16 bridge crossings, including 3 interchanges (viaduct), culverts and underpasses.

The contractual cost of this section amounts to 254 million lari ($78.8 million). Lot 2 of Samtredia-Grigoleti road will pass through the town of Lanchkhuti and the villages Japana, Kviani, Nigoiti, and Kvemo Shukhuti in Lanchkhuti municipality.

Lot 1 covers 11,5 km long section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road. At this stage, the construction of bridges, culverts, underpasses, and roadbed works are underway. The project envisages construction of four-lane asphalt-concrete road, 8 bridge crossings, and 27 structures.

Samtredia-Grigoleti road runs through Samtredia city and villages of Samtredia and Abasha. The contract value is 89 million lari ($27.6 million).

The donor of the project is European Investment Bank (EIB).
