Azerbaijan, Baku Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Azerbaijan and Switzerland began discussions regarding the project to provide technical assistance to Azerbaijan and to make the Azerbaijani intellectual property system comply with the World Trade Organization, the foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan reported.
The experts of the State Secretariat of Switzerland on Economic Issues (Seco) will be visiting Baku in this respect. The Ministry considers that the agreement will be signed within a month, which will result in technical assistance being provided in 2007. Seco will allocate some $300,000 to implement the project.
The program entails observation and provides security for intellectual property, including authorizing and individual properties. It will be necessary to inject changes in the Criminal Code and Citizen Code of Azerbaijan.
The Agency on authorizing rights, the State Agency on Standardization, Patient and Metrology and State Customs Committee will be involved in the project.
