Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe, Spyder Revealed in Chicago

( WCF ) - Seems like all of us here at WorldCarFans are super-psyched about the debut of the facelifted Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and coupe. Both versions of the sports car were introduced to the world today at the Chicago Auto Show.

Each Eclipse comes with either a 2.4 liter four-banger, getting 162 horsepower, or a 3.8 liter V6 engine, capable of producing 265 horsepower and 262 ft-lb of torque. 0-60 mph in six seconds is not bad at all for a car in this class. Dual exhaust pipes are found at the back of this car, along with new wheels, new front and rear fascias, and a spoiler for the GT models. Also standard on the car are big ventilated discs, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and HID headlights. You have your choice between the standard six-speed manual transmission, or a five-speed Sportronic. The cars are also available in shiny new colors, like Solar Yellow, Maizen Blue pearl, and Quick Silver metallic.

Should consumer response on this car be as positive as we feel, Mitsubishi will likely borrow from the new styling when they build the next generation Eclipse in 2010.
