Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 March / corr. Trend U. Ismayilova/ Azerbaijan and Israel will sign bilateral convention on the mutual social security and exchange of the experience in social insurance, Jacob Sasporte, the director of the International Conventions Department at the National Insurance Institute of Israel said in Baku on 11 March.

"According to convention, the Azerbaijanis living in Israel can get their pension in line with the Israeli law and the Jews living in Baku will have social security in line with the Azerbaijan law," Sasporte said.

On 11 March, a meeting was held in the Social Protection Fund of Azerbaijan between the Fund officials and Israeli delegation headed by Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Artur Lenk. The sides discussed the further cooperation and the signing of the bilateral convention on mutual social security. The continuation of the meeting is expected to be held on 15 March in Baku.

According to Sasporte, once the convention is signed, every Azerbaijani living and working in Israel can get a base pension worth of $500 to $700 depending on the family conditions, his job and residence.

Unlike Azerbaijan, in Israel the volume of the pension does not depend on the resources accumulated in the social fund.

Sasporte said that Israel has already signed 15 such conventions with 15 European countries.

"The discussions on the convention began today, therefore it is difficult to say when the convention will be signed," Sasporte said.
