The Danish TLBS company is analyzing the Intelligent Transportation System project in Azerbaijan. The project was developed by the South Korean SK C and C consortium.

TLBS was selected as the quality-control supervisor, an Azerbaijani Transport Ministry source said.

The system will enable the population to reduce time spent on transport, regulate traffic, and relieve tension in the transport system.

"The design is complete. All documents have been translated into Azerbaijani. The company has already started to review the project and will make comments," the source said.

Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said the preliminary cost of the project is $76 million.

The construction of the control center will commence in late March in Baku, the source said.

The location has already been selected on Heydar Aliyev Avenue near the former Keshla Machine-Building Plant.

The agreement signed by the Transport Ministry envisages launching a control center in Baku similar to the the Urban Transport Center in Seoul. In the first stage, the center will focus on Baku and later all of Absheron. The center will cover Absheron, Khirdalan, Sumgayit and Ganja through a fiber-optic communications system.

New traffic lights and bus stops will also be commissioned once the system is operating.

The Intelligent Transportation System will be opened within 3.5 years in two stages.
