Next week, the Baku Metro will receive five new carriages, made at the Russian Metrovagonmash OJSC, a source at the Baku Metro said.
"The carriages are already on the way, they will arrive in Baku on Saturday or Sunday, and next week we should get them," said the source.
Recently, the Metro has received 10 new carriages of this Russian production. Two compositions, consisting of new carriages will be launched on Sept. 15.
Just this year, the Baku Metro plans to buy 15 cars produced by the Metrovagonmash OJSC.
The Baku Metro purchased 35 carriages in 2008 and 25 carriages in 2007.
The Mytishinskiy Plant Metrovagonmash supplies rolling stock for the Baku metro for over 30 years. The carriages, produced at the plant near Moscow, constitute about 80 percent of its fleet. The Baku Metro is functioning since 1967.
