The Government of Georgia has submitted to parliament a legislative initiative to stimulate the gambling industry in the resort areas. The law is amended on licensing fees and fees for permits.

Under the bill, the persons wishing to open a casino in their new hotel, which has more than 100 rooms, will be exempted from fees for permission to open a casino for 10 years. This privilege will be extended to the hotels in Batumi.

The Parliament is considering a legislative initiative of the Government in the first reading, though, the Finance and Budget Committee says the zone of preferences will be extended also to Kobuleti and Khelvachauri in the second reading.
