In 2009-2015, Azerbaijan will allocate 80 million manat to buy 40,000 heads of pedigree cattle, Agriculture Minister, Ismat Abbasov said.
"Over the past five years, the country has bought 16,000 heads of pedigree cattle, and during this period, meat production increased by 30.7, and milk production - by 18.3 percent," said the minister.
He said the import of 776 heads of pedigree cattle from Germany triggered the growth of this kind in the country to 1,200.
"If we receive any proposals to import pedigree cattle from other countries, we are ready to consider them," said the minister.
Production of livestock products grew by 2.1 percent in Azerbaijan for 7 months, he added.
