The Turkmen State Concern Turkmenavtoyollari ("Turkmen highways") and the Altcom Road Construction Company (Ukraine) signed a contract on the design and construction of Road Bridge across the Amu Darya with the coastal fortifications.

The total length of the object is 1,415 meters and the width is 11.5 meters. The order envisages the compliance with the performance of the second technical level with the access and exit roads and a full lighting.

Under the project, the construction work is scheduled for October 2009. The will be put into operation in October 2012.

This facility on the Amu Darya and the railway bridge introduced on Sept. 17 assumes the strategic importance for the Turkmen economy and will expand the network of the international transport communications.

At present, Turkmenistan builds multi-row highways Ashgabat-Karakum-Dashoguz and Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Farab, which will cross Turkmenistan in all directions.

The technique used at construction sites is purchased from the American Caterpillar, the Japanese Komatsu and Russia's Kamaz. The companies are building simultaneously dozens of engineering facilities - transport interchanges, bridges and overpasses, which would reduce highway congestion, provide anti-mudflow protection and safety, on the routes of motorways.
