St. Petersburg's enterprises interests in Turkmen market

Heads St. Petersburg's largest enterprises, including Vozrozhdenie, Sevkabel Holding, the Kirov factory, Positron, Vodokanalstroy, Vagonmash, Petersburg Tractor Plant and Setlprof seeking to strengthen their positions on the Turkmen market, have visited Turkmenistan to expand cooperation.

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov will receive the delegation including both leadership of St. Petersburg and heads of the largest state-owned enterprises and famous Russian companies, headed by St. Petersburg's Governor Valentina Matvienko, the national Altin-Asir TV channel reported.

"The visit of the Russian northern capital's envoys may truly be considered as an important step in deepening the traditional long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and, the world's largest cultural-historical and economic center St. Petersburg," the same source said.

During the visit, Matvienko will take part in laying the first foundation stone of a road overpass complex, which will be established on the project of Russia's enterprise Vozrozhdenie. This is a project of modern trestle on the fork of the Ashgabat-Mary highway.

The meeting with the relevant Turkmen agencies will focus on details of the projects on creation of modern road and transport infrastructure in Ashgabat and delivery of modern high-tech equipment for various sectors of the Turkmen economy.

Berdimuhammedov's visit to St. Petersburg in March, 2009, as part governmental visit to Russia, gave the dynamics to relations with the North-West Federal District of Russia.
