Iran's rice import decreased by 16 percent both in weight and value in March to December 2010, Iranian Trade Promotion Organization Deputy Head Kioumars Kermanshahi said.
Iran imported 833,000 tons of rice valued at US $729.6 million in this period, the Iranian Trade Promotion Organization's official web-site reported.
United Arab Emirates, India and Pakistan were among the major rice exporters to Iran.
Iran has 3,800 rice milling units (2009). The average per capita consumption of rice is 45.5 kilograms in Iran, making Iranians the 13th biggest rice consumers.
