Deficit of Azerbaijani public budget makes up 0.9 percent of GDP

In 2010, the public budget income comprised 11.402.5 million manat, or 27.4 percent of GDP. This index increased by 10.4 percent or 1076.6 million manat, compared to 2009, the government said.

Public budget expenditures increased by 12 percent and made up 11.766 million manat (28.3 percent of the GDP). The deficit of the budget totaled 363.5 million manat, or 0.9 percent of GDP.

The Taxes Ministry remitted 37.7 percent of all income, or 4294 million manat to the Public budget, which increased by 4.4 percent compared to 2009. The State Customs Committee remitted 1101.7 million manat (with a special weight of 9.7 percent) in taxes and duties to the public budget, which decreased by 1 percent compared to 2009.

Other sources remitted 6135.6 million manat (with a special weight of 53,8 percent) with an increase of 18 percent.

During the report period, a total of 2082.5 million manats was obtained from VAT, or 18.3  percent of all income, 1429.9 million manat (12.5 percent) - profit taxes, 590.2 million manat (5.2 percent) - income taxes, 514.9 million manat (4.5 percent) - excise taxes, 101.8 million manats (0.9 percent) - property taxes, and 130.1 million manats (1.1 percent) -royalties and 291.8 million manat (2.6 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.

The public budget expense for social security and provision of people comprised 1123 million manats (with a weight of 9.5percent), 1181.4 million manat (10 percent) was spent on education, 429.4 million (3.7 percent) - health, 668.5 million (5.7 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 4889.9 million (41.6 percent)- investment allocations, 199.9 million (1.7 percent) - housing and communal services, 372.1 million (3.2 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 55.1 million (0.5 percent) - transport and communications, and 28.7  percent (3372.9 million manat) of Public expenses were spent on the payment of salaries, pension and allowances.
