The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry has held discussions to open a joint venture in the country to establish a repair base for the Azerbaijani carriages within a Belarusian delegation's visit to Baku.
The delegation is headed by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov told media.
He said that the sides discussed the possibility of purchasing new carriages for the needs of the Azerbaijani railway and repair of existing cars.
Belarus Minister of Transport and Communications Ivan Scherbo said earlier that the two sides discuss a project on overhaul of carriages with the participation of the Gomel repair plant, the Belarusian agency BELTA said.
He said that there is great potential in the transit sphere between the two countries. "We discuss partnership in this area, he said.
"There are great potential and opportunities to expand the cooperation."
"We are interested in drawing Azerbaijani capital to develop transportation and logistics centers," he said. "Azerbaijani investors intend to participate in these projects."
He said that Belarus has successfully mastered the transport direction China-Kazakhstan-Russia with a way to the Baltic countries.
