The Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry has held a meeting with producers to ensures the professional execution of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's orders on socioeconomic development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Entrepreneurs' Confederation and over 100 enterprises producing competitive industrial products.

Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said an increase observed in the production of competitive products aimed at export through the successful economic policies.

Mustafayev named some indicators of the economic development in the first half. During the reporting period, GDP grew by 0.9 percent, non-oil sector - by 7.2 percent, agriculture - 6.2 percent, communication and information sector - by 14.4 percent.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover hit $17.43 billion, including imports - $4.34 billion and exports - $13.09 billion. Non-oil exports increased by 43 percent.

Today, Azerbaijan exports products in the non-oil sector such as electrical machinery and equipment and parts, products of chemicals and food industries, including vegetables, fruits, cotton, sugar and products thereof, as well as the textile industry.

"The fact that products and equipment produced in Azerbaijan are exported confirm the presence in the country of companies producing high quality products in accordance with international standards, and that their number is constantly growing," Mustafayev said.

He said corresponding measures will be taken to ensure the widespread use of these products and equipment.

He said the ministry will prepare a new catalog of enterprises producing competitive products.
