Volume of leasing operations in Uzbekistan ups by 9 percent in first half-year

The total volume of leasing operations in Uzbekistan rose by 8.8 percent in the first half of 2011 compared to the same period of 2010 and amounted to 265.473 billion soums, the Association of Lessors of Uzbekistan (ALU) said.

The total volume of leasing operations in Uzbekistan rose by 8.8 percent in the first half of 2011 compared to the same period of 2010 and amounted to 265.473 billion soums, the Association of Lessors of Uzbekistan (ALU) said.
In total Uzbek lessors signed over 4,000 deals (10.9-percent decrease) in the first half-year.
The total volume of the leasing market increased by 10 percent and amounted to $ 1.2 trillion soums.
The main share in the structure of leased property for the first half-year accounted for a technological equipment - 29.7 percent, in particular, construction equipment - 20.9 percent, the equipment for the production of food products - 15.6 per cent, textile products - 10.9 percent . The share of leased farming machines hit 28.5 percent, transport vehicles - 26.9 percent, real estate - 14.8 percent.
According to the ALU, in January - June 2011, 84 lessor operated, including 46 - leasing companies, 20- commercial banks, 18 organizations, for which the lease is not the main activity.

In the first half-year, the largest participants of the leasing market was "UzSelHozMashLizing " - 25.1 per cent of total transactions (66.6 billion soums), "Uzavtopromlizing" - 11.5 percent (30.6 billion soums), "Microcredit" - 9.9 percent (26.4 billion soums), "Alokabank" - 8.9 percent (23.7 billion soums), "Uzmeliomashlizing" - 7.2 percent (19.1 billion soums), "Uzbek Leasing International SC" - 6.9 percent (18.4 billion soums).

In Uzbekistan, the equipment imported for leasing are exempt from VAT and customs duties, lease object is exempt from tax on property, from paying VAT lease payments, leasing services are exempt from income tax.
In 2010 the total volume of leasing operations in Uzbekistan increased by 7.2 percent compared to 2009 to 430.4 billion soums, the volume of the leasing market - by 1.2 percent to 1.135 trillion soums. In total last year Uzbek lessors signed a more than 5,500 deals - 10.9 percent more than a year earlier.
By 2015, Uzbekistan plans to increase the volume of leasing operations twice compared to 2010 - to 930 billion soums per year.
The official exchange rate is 1731.36 soums to $1 on Aug.20.
