Medium-sized banks in Azerbaijan are not yet able to be largely involved in the capital of other enterprises, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov told journalists.
"I think it is the challenge of other periods, other scales of the banking sector ans other capital base," - said Rustamov.
In addition, Rustamov said at present banks' direct investments into commercial enterprises are not appropriate in the current difficult situation on the international financial market.
At present, banks recover their strength after the global financial crisis.
Therefore, now the main challenge is maintaining high capital base of the banking sector and its consolidation.
