China increases presence in Tajikistan’s agrarian sector

Chinese investors increase their presence in Tajikistan's agrarian sector, Asia-plus quotes Narzullo Dadabayev, spokesperson for Tajikistan's Agriculture Ministry, as saying.

He said Tajikistan and China are holding negotiations on providing Chinese citizens with 200 hectare area in Khatlon district of Tajikistan. These areas are not used for crop growing by Tajikistan due to high level of groundwater.

Dadabayev added that last year Chinese company got area for 412 hectares in Khalton district and according to an agreement the company is obliged to invest $2 million in the cultivation of the area.

He expects foreign investors to have positive impact on the development of Tajikistan's agrarian
sector.
