Iran finds huge iron reserves in Lut desert

Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who today took part in the opening of a new development plan at the Mobarek Metallurgy Complex, said that Iran discovered 50 billion tons iron reserves in the Lut desert, Fars reported.

The president noted that there are huge iron reserves in the Lut desert, with 95 percent purity.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in Isfahan, taking part in the opening of a new development plan at the Mobarek Metallurgy Complex.

Iran today opened two modern sponge iron manufacturing plants in Isfahan. The development plan includes opening the before mentioned modern sponge iron manufacturing plants within the Mobarek Metallurgy Complex.

Reportedly, these two plants will be the biggest of such in the whole country.
