Azerbaijani state budget expenditures increase by more than 53 percent

In January-May 2012 actual proceeds to the revenue part of Azerbaijani state budget amounted to 6.715.3 billion manat (32.2 per cent of GDP), or 39.2 percent more compared to the same period last year, the government told Trend on Tuesday.

State budget expenditures increased by 53.4 percent and amounted to 5.648.5 billion manat (23.1 percent of GDP). The budget surplus for January - May amounted to 1066.8 million manat or 5.1 percent of GDP.

In the structure of revenues, some 38.4 percent (2.58 billion manat) have been provided by the Ministry of Taxes. Revenues from customs duties and taxes amounted to 455 million manat (with share of 6.8 per cent), from other sources - 3.683.2 billion manat (54.8 percent).

During the reporting period proceeds from VAT collection amounted to 875.1 million manat, which accounts for 13 percent of total income, profit tax revenues amounted to 1064.6 million manat (15.9 percent), income taxes - 307.7 million manat (4.6 percent), excise tax - 202.1 million manat (3 percent), property tax - 51.1 million manat (0.8 percent), land tax - 17.6 million manat (0.3 percent), tax on mineral resources - 53.5 million manat (0.8 percent), and the tax on foreign economical activity - 278.9 million manat (4.2 percent).

The government allocated to social security and protection of the population in January - May from the budget 838.4 million manat (with a share of 14.8 percent), education - 458.1 million manat (8.1 percent), health care - 176.8 million manat (3.1 percent), maintenance of prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial authorities - 305.8 million manat (5.4 percent), investments in the economy - 2.222.2 billion manat (39.3 percent).

Investment in housing and utility costs amounted to 99.3 million manat (1.8 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing - 139.8 million manat (2.5 percent), transport and communications - 23.5 million manat (0.4 percent).

Some 25.3 percent (1.431.6 billion manat) of public expenditure was spent on the payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.
