Engin Group receives new contracts in Turkmenistan

State concern Turkmencotton will sign new contracts with the Engin Group (British Virgin Islands), in accordance with the decree of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, the official Turkmen source said on Wednesday.

State concern Turkmencotton will sign new contracts with the Engin Group (British Virgin Islands), in accordance with the decree of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, the official Turkmen source said on Wednesday.

The document was signed in order to supply high quality cotton seed to manufacturers of cotton, as well as to modernise the cotton industry.

The contracts will be signed:

- on the design and construction of the enterprise located in Karabekaul district of the Lebap region which specialises in the processing of seed cotton with a capacity of 40,000 tons per year, as well as all its internal and external systems of engineering. The construction works should begin in July 2012 and the plant must be commissioned in July 2015;

- on the design and construction of a new manufacturing site on the territory of the ginning enterprise with capacity of 60,000 tons per year in Beyik Turkmenbashi, a district in the Lebap region. Construction works should begin in July 2012 and the plant must be commissioned in July 2015

- on the design and construction of a new manufacturing site on the territory of the ginning enterprise with capacity of 90,000 tons per year in the Gerogly district of the Dashoguz region. Construction work should begin in July 2012 and the factory must be commissioned in December 2013.

At this stage prophylactic measures are held at 36 ginning factories and 159 points in anticipation of cotton harvest campaign which is usually carried out from August to October. Last year it was held also in November.

It is planned to collect million tons of raw products from 550,000 hectares this year.

Turkmenistan prepared about 1.1 million tons of raw cotton in 2011. Traditionally, the country exports raw materials to China, Russia, Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
