In spring 2013, Azerbaijan will host the European Forum "Customs and Business", State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan said on Saturday.
The relevant agreement was reached during a meeting of the State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev and Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya, which took place within the 119th/120th sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council and Global Excise Summit in late June - early July at the headquarters of the WTO in Brussels.
"During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side offered to host this event in Gabala. Despite the presence of similar proposals from other countries, the WTO leadership took a decision in favor of Azerbaijan," the report says.
The Forum will be held in Gabala (220 km from Baku) in March 2013.
At a meeting with Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yury Fedotov, views were exchanged on the construction of a treatment facility for drug-addicted persons in Lankaran (270 km from Baku). The establishment will be built at the expense of funds received from the charity concert held in Baku in October 2011 within an international conference to combat illicit drug trafficking.
