Tajikistan produced roughly 928 kilograms of gold in the first half of 2012, Tajik Energy and Industry Minister Gul Sherali told reporters on Monday, Asia-Plus reported.
According to the minister, gold production increased by 7 kilograms in the reporting period compared to the same period of 2011.
Meanwhile, Tajik National enterprise Tadzhikzoloto (Tajik gold) under the Finance Ministry decreased gold production by 17 kilograms in January-June 2012 compared to the same period of 2011.
Tajikistan produced over 2.4 tons of gold in 2011.
According to the Tajik Energy and Industry Ministry's forecasts, Tajikistan's gold production will exceed production of 2011 by 200 kilograms.
