Iran's own specialists have installed the generators at a refinery, after German and Swedish businesses refused to do so.
The German and Swedish companies wouldn't sell Iran the generators so they were bought from a third party the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports Samad Shahri, the executive in charge of retrofitting the Tabriz refinery.
After delaying installing the generators for six months, the businesses finally said they wouldn't go through with the agreement to get the generators up and running. Installed by Iran's own specialists, the generators are in the per-operational phase.
The Tabriz refinery began operating in 1977. Its production capacity has grown to 110,000 barrels a day. The refinery's products include liquefied natural gas, kerosene, auto petrol, heavy fuel oil and sulfur.
A petrol manufacturing project is underway at the complex and when finished the Tabriz refinery will have the capacity to produce one million liters of petrol daily that meets the Euro 4 and 5 emissions standards.
Because of the international sanctions levied against Iran's oil industry and its Central Bank, Western companies are discouraged or outright prohibited from doing business with Iran.
