As of Dec.1, 2012, 19 commercial banks, including 14 with foreign capital in the authorized capital and three branches of foreign banks operated in Georgia.
As the National Bank of Georgia told Trend, total assets of commercial banks (in current prices) decreased by 24.4 million lari ($1 = 1.66 lari), or 0.2 percent compared to the previous month and amounted to 14 billion lari.
The banking sector's own funds (equity capital) equal to 2.3 billion lari, which makes up 16.5 percent of commercial banks' total assets.
The share of foreign capital in banks' total paid-in capital constituted to 74.7 percent.
In November 2012, the banking sector finished with profit. The net profit constituted 14.2 million lari.
The share of five banks having the largest assets within the total amount of the banking sector assets constituted 81.8 percent.
