Foodstuffs increase in price in Kazakhstan

The food prices increased by 4.6 percent in Kazakhstan in April of 2013 compared to the corresponding month of 2012, the Kazakh Statistics Agency said today.

According to the report, the price on flour increased by 14.2 percent in Kazakhstan in April 2013 compared to the corresponding month of 2012.

According to the agency, the price on pasta increased by 11.2 percent, fruits and vegetables - 9.8 percent, coffee, tea and cocoa - 5.4 percent, bakery and pastry products - 5.2 percent, fish and seafood - 5 percent, alcoholic beverages - 4 percent, dairy products - 3.8 percent, confectionery - 3.5 percent, oil and fats - 3.1 percent, bread - by 2.5 percent.

The prices on cereals decreased by 15.9 percent, sugar - by 7.4 percent.

The prices on meat and meat products for the period increased by 4.6 percent. The prices on mutton increased by 6.4 percent, pork - 5 percent, horse-flesh - 4.9 percent, sausages - 4.4 percent, beef - 4.3 percent, poultry - 4.1 percent.

The subsistence minimum per capita, calculated on the basis of minimum standards of consumption of main foodstuffs increased by 0.2 percent in April 2013 compared to the previous month and by 6.8 percent compared to April 2012.

The share of the expenses for purchasing meat and fish hit 23.5 percent, dairy, oil and fat products and eggs - 16.3 percent, fruits and vegetables - 10.4 percent, bread and cereal products - 7.7 percent, sugar, tea and spices - 2.1 percent.
