Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 May / Trend E. Kosolapova /

Kazakhstan has given up the idea of building a grain terminal in the Iranian city of Gorgan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan told Trend.

"The Food Corporation has previously considered the possibility of implementation of the project on 'Construction of rail grain terminal in the city of Gorgan'. However, this issue has been postponed indefinitely due to difficult political situation in the country and is not currently considered," according to a statement.

According to the Ministry, Kazakhstan also has no plans to build any infrastructure object outside of the country for the transportation of grain to Europe, although such possibilities have been repeatedly mentioned.

However, according to the Ministry, Kazakhstan is still interested in the construction of a grain terminal on the Kazakh-Chinese border. The Food Corporation plans implementation of the project in 2016-2017.

"Currently, the search is underway for a strategic partner from the Chinese side to jointly implement the project," the Ministry said.

Kazakhstan is one of the largest grain producers in the world.
