Turkey demands lifting ban on credit payment of mobile phones

The Association of producers and sellers of communication technologies of Turkey (MOBİSAD) demands to lift the ban on the credit payment of goods, MOBİSAD website said.

They appealed to the bank supervisor body of Turkey (BDDK) with a proposal to limit the maximum term of credit payment of mobile phones and communication technologies to six months.

Currently, there is a ban on the credit payment of mobile phones and communication technologies in Turkey.

Recently, Turkey has lifted a ban on the credit payment of gold jewelry.

If earlier the loan payment of jewelry was completely banned, now the maximum term of credit payment of gold is limited to four months.

Owners of corporate credit cards will not be able to use the credit payment when buying jewelry.

There are 67.9 million mobile phones registered in the country, according to the state agency for information and communication technologies of Turkey (BTK).

The population of Turkey is 76.667 million, according to official statistics.

Mobile network penetration in Turkey is 99 percent. Currently 1,800 settlements are not provided with the mobile and fiber-optic communication. It is explained by difficult location of those settlements.

There are 47 mobile operators officially registered in Turkey, three of which are functioning - Avea, Turkcell and Vodafone.

Turkcell has 52, 4 percent of users, Vodafone - 27, 9 percent, and Avea - 19, 7 percent.
