Italy remains leader among Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners

Italy retained leadership among Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners in Jan.-Apr. 2015, Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said in its statistical report.

The trade turnover with this country totaled $1.087 billion, or 14.16 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijan's trade operations, said the report.

Italy is followed by Germany - $887.7 million (11.57 percent), United States - $724.06 million (9.44 percent), Russia - $648.58 million (8.45 percent) and Turkey - $538.9 million (6.81 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total trade turnover is 50.64 percent.

Italy also accounted for the largest part of Azerbaijani export during the reporting period. The report said that $925.3 million worth goods were exported to this country, or 21.67 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijani export during the reporting period.

The other leading countries in export are: Germany ($623 million -14.59 percent), France ($291.88 million - 6.84 percent), Indonesia ($240.5 million - 5.63 percent) and Israel ($218.05 million, or 5.11 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total export is 53.84 percent.

The top 5 for the largest share in Azerbaijani import during the reporting period included: Russia ($545.5 million dollars), accounting for 16.03 percent of Azerbaijani imports, the United States - $523.9 million (15.4 percent), Turkey - $439.3 million (12.91 percent), Germany - $264.86 million (7.78 percent) and Japan - $189.47 million (5.57 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total import volume is 57.69 percent.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover with 126 countries stood at $7.67 billion in Jan.-Apr. 2015, which is 22.42 percent less than in the same period of 2014.

Azerbaijan's export and import operations in the first four months of 2015 stood at $4.27 billion and $3.4 billion, respectively, according to the report.
