Iran inagurates new combined-cycle power plant

Iran inagurated a new combined-cycle power plant with 160 megawatts (MW) power generation capacity, the country's Energy Ministry reported on May 18.

Iran has boosted the power generation capacity by 342 MW to 74,437 MW since the beginning of the current fiscal year (started on March 21), a weekly report, published on Energy Ministry's official website said.

The country has planned to add additional 3,322 MW to power generation capacity by March 2017.

Iran produced 36.510 billion kilo-watt hours of electricity during March 21-May 13, the report said, adding that the electricity export reached 269 million kWh and imports increased by 10 percent to 787 million kWh during the mentioned period, year-to-year.

Iran decreased gas and diesel delivery to power plants by 9.7 percent and 36.5 percent to 7.619 billion cubic meters and 115 million liters, but the fuel oil deliveries increased by 8.3 percent to 416 million liters during the mentioned period.
