EU hopes to initial aviation agreement with Azerbaijan soon, an EU official said during a video-conference dedicated to the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Brussels Nov.24.

Earlier, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev told Trend that the Common Aviation Area Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Azerbaijan may be signed soon.

"The work on the aviation agreement is underway, and it is not excluded that it will be initialed in the near future," said Mammad-Guliyev.

He did not rule out that the agreement may be signed during the European Union’s Eastern Partnership summit, which will be held in Brussels on November 24.

Moreover, Kestutis Jankauskas, head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan earlier said that the European Union and Azerbaijan have basically cleared all the text of the Common Aviation Area Agreement.
