Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, May 3
By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Ahmet Arslan, the Turkmen government said in a message May 3.
The meeting was held on the occasion of the commissioning of a new international sea port in the Caspian city of Turkmenbashi. The project was implemented by Turkey’s Gap Insaat company.
“The large-scale construction project of a new international sea port in the city of Turkmenbashi, implemented jointly with Turkish partners, is an example of fruitful cooperation established in this strategic direction between Turkmenistan and Turkey,” the message said.
It was noted that commissioning of modern sea ports on the Caspian coast will promote the activation of regional and interregional trade and economic relations and will open huge opportunities for optimizing transport flows in the Eurasian space.
This will provide all interested countries with the shortest access to the European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets, the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, including access to the Black Sea ports of Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Romania and other countries.
The Turkish minister stressed the desire of his country’s business circles to continue taking an active part in large-scale infrastructure projects implemented by Turkmenistan.
