Meat production increases in Kazakhstan's Karaganda

Kazakhstan's Karaganda Region produced 73,600 tons of meat of all kinds of cattle and poultry in live weight over eight months of this year, which is 1.2 percent more than in the corresponding period last year, according to the data from the National Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan.

In the production of meat, the largest share - 46.2 percent - falls on beef.

The share of lamb and goat meat amounted to 15.1 percent, horse meat – to 18 percent, pork – to 11.6 percent, poultry – to 9 percent, camel meat – to 0.1 percent.

The largest share in the total meat production in the region falls on the of Bukhar-Zhyrau district (15.1 percent), Shet district (15 percent) and Karkaraly district (14.6 percent).

Production of cow milk increased by 2.9 percent compared to January-August 2017 and amounted to 326,100 tons.

Some 479.9 million chicken eggs were produced, which is 22.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

The main volume of chicken eggs was produced by farmers of Bukhar-Zhyrau and Abai districts - 55.8 and 35.6 percent, respectively.
