In January-September 2018, 121.700 people arrived in Uzbekistan, while over 134,000 people left the country, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a report.
The negative balance of migration was 12,300 people, which is 2,600 less than in the same period of 2017 (14,900 people).
The highest level of the negative migration balance was in the Tashkent region (4,100 people), the Kashkadarya region (2,100 people) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3,100 people).
The number of arriving in Uzbekistan for permanent residence amounted to 1,961 people. About 31 percent of people arrived in Uzbekistan from Kazakhstan, 28.3 percent from Tajikistan, 25.3 percent from Russia, 3.7 percent from Turkmenistan and 2.4 percent from Kyrgyzstan.
The number of leaving Uzbekistan for permanent residence abroad amounted to 14,195 people. About 48.1 percent of people left for Kazakhstan, 46 percent – Russia, 1.3 percent – the US, 0.7 percent – Israel, and 0.5 percent – Tajikistan.
As of Oct. 1, 2018, the resident population of Uzbekistan has increased by 428,500 people (1.3 percent) since the beginning of 2018 and amounted to 33,085,200 people.
