A big ship carrying 72,000 tons of corn has moored to Shahid Beheshti Port of Iran’s Chabahar Port and is unloading the cargo, said Director General of Ports and Maritime Department of Sistan-Baluchestan Province Behrooz Aghaei, Iranian media reported.

The Shahid Beheshti Port has the capacity of loading and unloading more than 8.5 million tons per year, and has the potential for 100,000 ton-ships to moor at this port, he noted.

“As much as 20 percent of Iran’s essential products account for the Chabahar Port, and this can lead to the development of transport infrastructure projects,” he said. “Development of the Chabahar-Zahedan-Sarakhs railway, the construction of two-lane highways leading to the Chabahar Port and provision of services for transit trucks are important issues for the development of transport in this area.”
