Uzbek businessmen invited to take part in revival of Kazakhstan's Turkistan

Governor of Kazakhstan’s Turkistan region Zhanseit Tuymenbayev has invited Uzbek businessmen to take part in the revival of the city of Turkistan, Kazakh media reported with reference to the press service of the region.

He noted that the business climate of Turkistan region is attractive for both local entrepreneurs and foreign investors. Turkistan special economic zone was created in the region, where investors are provided with preferences and benefits.

" Taking this opportunity, I invite you to take part in the revival of our ancient capital — Turkistan, a city with 1,500 years of history. We are ready to fully support any projects aimed at the development of the region," Tuymenbayev said.

The governor also noted that three priority directions have been identified to be the main drivers of the development of Turkistan region’s economy: development of tourism, agro-industrial complex, and logistics and transit potential.

It is worth noting that this year was declared the year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan. Trade turnover between the two countries in 2017 increased by 31.2 percent and amounted to $2 billion. Exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan grew by 35 percent to $1.3 billion in 2017, while imports from Uzbekistan increased by 25.1 percent to $735.2 million.

Presidents of the two countries set a task to increase the trade turnover to $5 billion by 2020.
