Ministry: Construction of commercial, residential real estate decreases in Turkey

In January-September 2018, the number of permits for the construction of commercial and residential real estate in Turkey decreased by 41.4 percent compared to the same period in 2017, the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning of Turkey told Trend.

The ministry noted that in the first nine months of 2018, the number of permits for the construction of residential buildings decreased by 58.6 percent compared to the same period in 2017.

"The total area of commercial and residential real estate that received construction permits in Jan.-Sept. 2018 is 105.9 million square meters, 54.9 million square meters of which account for housing," the ministry said.

The ministry also noted that the largest number of permits for the construction of residential and commercial facilities was recorded in Istanbul.

"In the first nine months of 2018, construction permits were issued for 62,000 facilities of various types in Istanbul, while this number was 27,000 in Izmir and 23,000 in Ankara," the ministry said.
