Uzbekistan, Czech Rep. to co-op in nanotechnology, industry

Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic will cooperate in such areas as education and nanotechnology, energy and industry, engineering and agriculture, the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan announced referring to the results of the Uzbek-Czech business forum organized during the visit of Vice-speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Czech Parliament Vojteh Filip.

The delegation included representatives of 18 major enterprises of the Czech Republic engaged in construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, engineering, advisory services and industry. The Uzbek side included 80 representatives of business circles.

The business forum is organized in order to establish bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as to attract foreign investment and advanced technologies in the certain sectors of economy of Uzbekistan.

At the moment, Czech entrepreneurs are not so widely represented in Uzbekistan. Today, 24 enterprises with Czech capital operate in the country, 10 of which are companies with fully Czech capital.

Czech business representatives expressed interest in developing bilateral ties in areas such as education and nanotechnology, energy and industry, engineering and agriculture.

Upon completion of the business forum, a cooperation exchange was organized, where members of the Czech delegation and representatives of the Uzbek business community were able to discuss concrete steps towards the implementation of joint projects.

In January-September 2018, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic amounted to $47.5 million, of which $3.72 million accounted for exports from Uzbekistan, and $43.78 million for imports from the Czech Republic.
