It is planned to harvest 18,000 tons of wheat during the current harvest year in Charam County of Iran’s southwestern Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Head of Charam Agricultural Jihad Organization Ayat Safarpour told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to Safarpour, dry land farming was applied to 5,500 hectares of land and irrigation methods to 1,700 hectares of land. It is expected that 4-6 tons of wheat per hectare will be harvested in land plots where irrigation was used, and 2 tons per hectare from the areas with dry land farming, he said.
Safarpour added that over 10,000 tons of wheat will be purchased from farmers with a guarantee.
Charam County of Iran’s Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province has 16,000 hectares of sowing areas.
