Inflation rate grows in Georgia

In April 2019, the inflation rate in Georgia increased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 4.1 percent compared to the previous year, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia.

The inflation rate was mostly influenced by price changes in the following groups: food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.7 percent), clothing and footwear (+5 percent), restaurants and hotels (+0.7 percent).

The highest price increase in the first group was observed in the prices of vegetables (+5.6 percent), fruits and grapes (+5 percent) and meat (+1 percent), whereas prices for milk, cheese and eggs have decreased (-3.8 percent).

The increase in the second group is due to the price increase of both clothing (+1.7 percent) and footwear (+1.1 percent).

Finally, the increase in the third group is caused by the price increase for the accommodation and services (+2.8 percent).
