In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), Iran's non-oil exports through borders of its East Azerbaijan province increased by 52 percent compared to the preceding year, chairman of East Azerbaijan Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Hossein Nejati said, Trend reports via the website of the organization.
In the last Iranian year, 2.1 million tons of non-oil goods for $1.8 billion were exported through the borders of East Azerbaijan, Nejati said.
He further added that in the last year, non-oil exports of East Azerbaijan province through borders of all Iranian provinces amounted to $2.2billion in terms of value and 2.6 million tons in terms of weight.
"That is 7.8 percent more in terms value and 9 percent more in terms of weight, compared to the preceding Iranian year," he added.
Main export destinations for the goods exported via East Azerbaijan were Turkey ($600 million), Iraq ($580 million) Azerbaijan ($120 million) and Georgia ($120 million), Nejati said.
According to preliminary calculations, it is possible that the province's exports will increase by 10 percent, he added.
